Common questions

Is test and tag actually a legal requirement?

On construction, demolition and similar high-risk sites — yes: AS/NZS 3012 requires testing every 3 months, and SafeWork NSW enforces it. For offices, cafés and other workplaces, WHS law puts a duty of care on you to keep electrical equipment safe — regular testing to AS/NZS 3760 is the standard way to prove you've met it, and it's what auditors and insurers ask for.

How often do items need retesting?

It depends on the environment: construction sites — every 3 months; hostile environments (kitchens, workshops) — commonly 6–12 months; office equipment — typically 12 months to 5 years depending on the item. We set the correct cycle per item in your register and remind you before anything is due.

What do we get at the end of the visit?

Tagged items, a digital asset register listing every item and result, and a same-day Certificate of Compliance you can show any auditor, principal contractor or insurer.

Why bundle the emergency light test with test & tag?

Emergency and exit lights must pass a 90-minute discharge test every 6 months under AS 2293.2 — it's a legal requirement for virtually every commercial building, and failed batteries are common. Doing it in the same visit as your test & tag means one booking, one invoice, and both compliance items ticked at once — usually cheaper than two separate contractors.

Do you do after-hours or weekend visits?

Yes — for sites that can't have testing during trading hours we book early mornings, evenings or weekends. Mention it when you book.
